I also relish the idea of the separation of church and state. In recent years however there has been a public push by zealots to blur the line.
Not the right direction I believe.

Last year I was in Turkey. Almost a 100% Moslem country. They have a strong pride in their separation of church and state that is strongly declared in their constitution, with strong support from the populous. Moslem zealots there have no chance to mix religion with public affairs. Which I think is great.
