Interesting, even though obvious (to atheists!)

I think that he's misusing "skeptic", though. I don't see skepticism as simply indicating denial of all that is not in one's particular inculcated dogmatism -- that results from a *lack* of critical thinking.

The other interesting theist twist is that the prevalence of religious beliefs is mistakenly attributed to "there must be something to it" rather than "human psychology motivates invention of religions".

Welcome to PA and Hi.

Where do I fit if I am socially liberal but economically conservative?

Hugh, most everybody would like to lend a helping hand, and support science, medicine, pure research, medical assistance, the country's infrastructure etc. But everything comes at a cost and somebody ultimately has to decide which of the worthy causes will get funded -- not easy choices.

Many of the staunch Republicans I know seem to literally fear an Obama Presidency. I certainly am not thrilled, but only because he is so extreme in his socialist views. I find that I identify much more strongly as a Libertarian (or moderate without a label) than either of the absurd party extremes we have been saddled with.

And a question (OK, two questions):

How is it that fiscal conservatism got wrapped up with the religious right and aligned with Republicans?

Well Hugh,

Already the 1st of November. The forth we'll have the elections and probably the 5th we'll know the results. As you probably know Obama is a 100 to one Las Vegas favorite. Only something very dirty released in the next few days could defeat Obama.

Because you were such a complete turd in your comment, I will probably be deleting it. If you have something intelligent say (you haven't yet) say it without the name calling. I'm fine with fuck this and fuck that, but have something to say.

I pointed out that I have no love for the Republicans... in fact, I hate this sad two party system we have devolved into. BUT, I'd like to see the Republicans start acting like Republicans again -- Bill Clinton was very fortunate and very bright with the way he handled his tenure with the Republican congress, but real prosperity does not come from moving towards socialism. Look it up... Dipshit.
